Isis Sturtewagen earned her Master degree in Western European Archeology in september 2009 at Ghent University (Belgium). She graduated on a research project concerning female headwear in the Late Medieval Low Countries: "Een gouwen rync ende een ransse"; De gerimpelde hoofddoek in het modelandschap van de Lage Landen der late middeleeuwen; Een interdisciplinaire studie' ("'A gold ring and a frilled veil"; The frilled headdress in the Low Countries in the late Medieval period; An interdisciplinary study').
