About
The main purpose of this thesis is to look at David Griffin's work (a general introduction is provided in chapter 1) from a philosopher's of science point of view. Naturalism seems to be the mainstream in contemporary Anglo-Saxon philosophy, but what is its history and what is its content and relation to (natural) science? (chapter 2) After elaborating on scientific naturalism as such I will discuss Griffin's critique and alternative as a third way between supernaturalism and restricted scientific naturalism (chapter 3). But is his theistic view still fully naturalistic (in some sense)? Is Griffin's revisionary view on science compatible with naturalism? How can we refine and defend Griffin's revisionary position towards science and naturalism? (chapter 4).
